SHC issues notices over missing persons

Police and other agencies have not yet provided any information about missing persons

The Sindh High Court has issued notices to the Sindh Home Department, IG, DIGs and others on the petitions pertaining to the recovery of missing persons including Rameez Ahmed.

A two-member bench headed by Justice Muhammad Iqbal Kalhoro heard petitions for the recovery of Rameez Ahmed and other missing persons.

Petitioner's counsel stated that Rameez Ahmed has been missing since March 17. Police and other agencies have not yet provided any information about them. The court is requested to issue orders to immediately recover the missing citizens. The court issued notices to Sindh Home Department, IG, concerned DIGs and others. The court directed to submit a report to the police and other agencies within a month.

Former DIG jailed, fined for illegal occupasion of house

Additional District and Sessions Judge, Sharqi, sentenced former DIG Sai Rakhiyo to three-year imprisonment and

Rs0.1 million fine on charge of illegal occupation of 240 square yards house in Gulistan-e- Jauhar Block-7.

The court in its verdict also directed the accused to pay a rent at a rate of Rs15,000 per month from the date of illegal possession of the house.

The court cancelled the bail of the accused DIG and ordered the arrest. The court also ordered SHO Gulistan Johar to comply with the court orders.

The court in its ruling directed SHO Gulistan Johar to make arrangements to handed over to the property to the petitioner.

The claimant stated that a house of 240 square yards in Gulistan-e-Jauhar Block No. 7 was purchased in October 2016. After some time, the police personnel broke the locks of the house at the behest of accused DIG Sai Rakhiyo.

The lawyer of the accused, however, stated that Sai Rakhiyo Mirani had not occupied the house. The charges against Sai Rakhiyo Mirani were false.
