Following the adjournment of the much-awaited National Assembly session on no-trust motion against Prime Minister Imran Khan, Leader of the Opposition and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President Shehbaz Sharif warned the government that if the motion was not tabled on Monday, then they would not be responsible for “what would happen next”.

Speaking to the media outside the Parliament building on Friday, he censured the speaker for acting in a partisan manner. “Asad Qaiser acted as a PTI worker instead of the National Assembly speaker,” he said, adding that the opposition would resort to legal and constitutional protests if Qaiser tried to “act as a slave [of PM Imran] on March 28”.

He added that the speaker had committed an unconstitutional act by not calling the session within 14 days of the submission of the no-trust motion.

Shehbaz also wrote a letter to the speaker, saying that the no-confidence motion was tabled on March 8 and a session should have been called immediately.

He said that the speaker was bound to call the session within 14 days but he did not fulfil his constitutional obligation.

Shehbaz also wrote a letter to IG Islamabad and Secretary Interior District Administration, saying that every member of parliament has the right to take part in NA session.

He said that the prime minister, federal ministers and aides have been giving statements regarding stopping the lawmakers from coming to the lower hour.

The opposition leader further said that non-parliamentary language was used by government members and the premier even threatened the opposition.

Fearing "bloodshed", Shehbaz said that PM Imran has already announced gathering ‘one million people’ at D-Chowk and has said that all MNAs would have to go through them.
