Commissioner orders hoarding crackdown expedited
Commissioner Dr Irshad Ahmad has ordered officials to expedite the crackdown against artificial inflation and profiteers during Ramazan.
He expressed these views while presiding over a meeting on the performance of district administration on Thursday.
Around 116 price control magistrates across the division conducted 18,710 raids during March. Over Rs3.3 million in fines were imposed, 36 cases were registered and 128 profiteers were apprehended.
The Punjab government will provide essential items to the people at cheaper rates in Ramadan bazaars.
The commissioner further added that 13 items would be available at lower rates at fair price shops than on the general market.
As many as 23 Ramazan bazaars across the division would be made functional from Shabaan 25 and 638,507 metric tonnes of wheat will be procured across the division.
