City resounds with national fervour
The city of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah reverberated with national fervour on Pakistan Day with the government and people marking the day it was resolved to create Pakistan.
On the occasion of Pakistan Day, March 23, various personalities, including the Sindh governor and chief minister visited the mausoleum of the founder of Pakistan. Anyone from heavy bikers and cyclists to scouts and social organisations paid tribute to the father of the nation.
March 23 was celebrated in Karachi, like the rest of the country, on Wednesday with great national fervor. Pakistan Day began with a salute of 21 cannons by the Pakistan Navy in the provincial capital of Karachi. After Fajr prayers, the Holy Quran was recited in different mosques. Special prayers were offered for stability, peace, development and prosperity in the country.
Sindh Governor Imran Ismail, Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah and others visited the mausoleum of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah on the occasion of Pakistan Day. The governor and the chief minister laid floral wreaths on Jinnah's grave.
The governor and the chief minister recorded their impressions in the guest book of Mazar-e-Quaid. Representatives of the three armed forces also visited the shrine. Sindh DG Rangers Major General Iftikhar Hassan Chaudhry also visited Mazar-e-Quaid.
Karachi Administrator Murtaza Wahab was also among the visitors who laid flowers and offered Fateha. The Karachi Administrator also recorded his impressions in the guest book. Quaid-e-Azam's family cut the cake after visiting Mazar-e-Quaid.
On the occasion of Pakistan Day, various political and religious parties, social organizations, civil society and others attended Mazar-e-Quaid and paid homage to the services of the Founder of Pakistan.
Heavy bikers and cyclists rallied outside Mazar-e-Quaid and paid homage to the founder of Pakistan.
On Pakistan Day, seminars and other events were organised by political/ religious parties and others. The gatherings highlighted the objective of Pakistan Day. Solidarity was also expressed with Kashmiris on the occasion. The national flag was hoisted on important buildings and places.

Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has said that no-confidence motion would not harm democracy, provided the constitution continues to remain in force.
He further said that PPP had meetings with MQM and the leaders of the latter party have presented their demands.
"The MQM has made some demands which we do not object to," he said. He also said Sindh Governor Imran Ismail has rightly said that next year will be even better. He was talking to media after visiting Mazar-e-Quaid on the occasion of Pakistan Day on Wednesday.
He said Pakistan has gone through a lot of difficulties and is still facing problems. "Today we must remember our Kashmiri brothers as oppression and barbarism continue in the disputed territory" he said, adding that the people of Pakistan will protect the borders and their constitution.
"Our Kashmir brothers should be remembered. Our hearts beat for Kashmiris. The nation of Pakistan will defend its borders. Pakistan will remain till the Day of Judgment." He welcomed the delegates of OIC on behalf of the Sindh government.
The CM said that the promise made by the Father of the Nation 82 years ago is present today.
