Seven of a family perish in road crash
Seven members of a family, including three children and a woman, lost their lives and 12 were injured in a road accident between a car and a passenger coach on the Indus Highway.
The accident, which reportedly occurred due to overspeeding of the coach driver, happened near Sann town of Jamshoro district. The deceased include 40 years old Muhammad Ismail Laghari and his wife 30 years old Humera, 45 years old Zameer Hussain Laghari, 22 years old Ameer Hussain Laghari, three years old Ali Asghar, two years old Ali Murtaza and one year old Dua. The family was travelling from Johi, a rural town in Dadu district, to Hyderabad.
The Chachar police station SHO Shahnawaz Malan told The Express Tribune that the coach driver escaped from the place of the incident. The accident pressed the roof and doors of the car and it took the police two to three hours to cut the vehicle to pull out some of the dead bodies. He said that the incident's FIR has not been lodged so far.
The injured were shifted to Syed Abdullah Shah Institute of Medical Sciences in Sehwan. One personnel of a law enforcement agency was reportedly referred to a private hospital in Karachi. The dead bodies were handed over to the Laghari family after completing medico-legal formalities.
Traffic remains chaotic on this thoroughfare. Around two days ago at least two persons lost their lives and four were injured in a road accident among three vehicles on the Indus highway near Khanote in Jamshoro district on Friday.
According to the police, a passenger coach, a pickup truck and truck hit each other on the highway. The deceased, identified as 35 years old Aftab Anwar Rana and 45 years old Khurram Ali, were travelling in the pickup truck Toyota Vigo.
The deceased were residents of Karachi who were travelling to Sehwan town of Jamshoro. The police said that the truck driver allegedly caused the accident. The police impounded the truck but the driver managed to escape. The incident's FIR has not been lodged so far. The injured were shifted to Liaquat University Hospital, Jamshoro.
