Muttahida tells PTI it believes in supremacy of parliament

Official statement from MQM-P says any decision contrary to the democratic norms will not be accepted or supported

Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) held on the cards in its hands and without making any promise for the looming no-confidence vote, assured the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf delegation that it believes in the supremacy of the parliament, the Constitution, and stability of the democratic system.

A delegation of PTI called on MQM-P Convener Dr Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui and others at the Parliament Lodges in Islamabad. The meeting was attended by Sindh Governor Imran Ismail, federal ministers Asad Umar and Ali Zaidi.

The meeting discussed the current political situation, a spokesperson for MQM-P said.

The official statement of MQM-P said that any decision contrary to the democratic norms would not be accepted or supported. The spokesperson further said that the decision of MQM-P would be in the interest of the country and nation and in accordance with the democratic traditions.

Also present on the occasion were Senior Deputy Convener of MQM Pakistan Rabita Committee Amir Khan, Deputy Convener Wasim Akhtar, Member Rabita Committee and Federal Minister Syed Aminul Haq, Members of Rabita Committee and Provincial Assembly Khawaja Izharul Hassan and Javed Hanif.
