Orders to hand over case to provincial task force

The Sindh High Court (SHC) on a petition pertaining to Tahir alias Lamba’s disappearance has ordered to interrogate the jail staff and others and hand over the investigation of the case of two missing brothers to the provincial task force.

A two-member bench headed by Justice Muhammad Iqbal Kalhoro heard petitions regarding the disappearance of Tahir Lamba and recovery of other missing persons.

The petitioner’s counsel stated that my client Tahir and his companion Junaid were taken away from inside the jail by a car. Junaid was convicted by a military court in a case and remanded in custody, however, Tahir alias Lamba has been missing since then. The investigation officer said that during the interrogation of the jail authorities and staff, no evidence was found that Tahir Lamba was taken away from inside the jail.

Justice Kalhoro inquired if there were any other cases pending against Tahir alias Lamba in the military court. The court also directed the jail staff and others to be questioned. The court sought a report on the disappearance of Hamza and Talha. The court handed over the investigation of the two missing persons to the provincial task force and adjourned the hearing of the petitions till April 14.

Illegal construction

SHC has sought clarification from Cantonment Board Clifton (CBC) on a petition against construction of a ground plus seven storey building on a plot measuring 80 square yards.

The petitioner’s counsel stated that the case has been pending since 2013 but the CBC has so far not taken any action. Plot No. E12 / 1 is situated in Chandio Village, Gizri Bazar in Punjab Colony whereupon the builder constructed illegal portions in the ground plus seven storey building.

The court remarked: “What action has been taken against the officers involved in illegal constructions? What action was taken against the illegal constructions?” The court ordered the CBC to file a response within four weeks.

Charged parking

A two-member bench headed by Justice Syed Hassan Azhar Rizvi heard the petition of Global Foundation against charged parking. The court inquired as to what had been done to raise public awareness so that the public knows where the charged parking is.
