PTI to stage ‘1m-strong’ power show at D-Chowk
The PTI is preparing to stage a one-million strong rally at Islamabad’s D-Chowk ahead of the opposition’s no-confidence motion in the lower house of parliament.
Prime Minister Imran Khan held a meeting with his aides on Saturday to discuss a strategy to counter the opposition’s motion following which his special assistant,
Ali Nawaz Awan, tweeted that the premier had assigned them the task of gathering one million PTI activists and supporters for the party’s ‘grand power show’.
“The prime minister, as always, is determined to be overcome this crisis,” he added.
“A record number of people will gather at D-Chowk to express their unwavering confidence in their leader as well as affection for him.”
PTI Senator Faisal Javed Khan tweeted that the rally would be attended by youth and elders as well as families.
“A large number of overseas Pakistanis have also started arriving in Islamabad [for the rally],” he added.
“Prime Minister Imran Khan will make a historic announcement at the rally and explain the plan of action after the failure of the opposition's no-confidence motion. This day bring an end to the opposition’s politics.”

A final programme has been prepared in meetings with PTI MNAs from Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Chakwal and surrounding areas.

They quoted PM Imran as saying that the opposition wanted to stop the economic growth of the country and would lose in the no-confidence motion.
The prime minister met with Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi, who briefed him on contacts with members of the assembly.
PM Imran also met with Leader of the House in Senate Dr Shahzad Waseem to discuss the opposition’s no-trust motion.
Speaking to reporters after the meeting, Waseem said the no-confidence motion would fail.
“The opposition will stand embarrassed.”
The leader of the House in Senate further said the premier was confident and would remain so.
He added that consultations were underway as to when the National Assembly session for the no-trust motion would be convened.
“The prime minister will fulfill the mandate given to him to eradicate corruption.”
Waseem maintained that there were no rifts between the civil and military leadership unlike what the opposition was claiming.
He pointed out that the lower house of parliament reaffirmed its confidence in Prime Minister Imran Khan in the past and claimed that it would do so again.
According to sources, the prime minister has summoned key members of the government political committee to his residence in Bani Gala on Sunday (today).
They added that the premier would continue his series of meetings with MNAs on Sunday.
The sources further said PM Imran would talk to them about the no-confidence motion.
National Assembly Speaker Asad Qaiser also continued his meetings with MNAs.
According to sources, it has been decided in principle to convene the session for the no-trust move in the coming week.
