KARACHI:

Property dispute between mother and son reaches Sindh High Court. A bench comprising Justice Muhammad Iqbal Kalhoro and Justice Abdul Mubeen Lakho heard the petition against the decision of DC South and Sessions Court.

Emotional scenes were witnessed in the courtroom. Elderly woman Nusrat Jameel fell unconscious while narrating her story. The court directed to call a doctor immediately. "It seems from the statement of the old lady that she does not have any issues with her son but with her daughter-in-law," Justice Kalhoro remarked.

The elderly woman said that she had educated her son and when he was in Dubai, she kept sending him money. "The house I live in was purchased from the money given to me by my father. I got remarried after my husband died, now I want peace. My son and daughter-in-law have been harassing me at this age," she told the court.

The court also reprimanded the elderly woman's daughter-in-law over use of foul language against the elderly woman.

Justice Kalhoro remarked: "Think for a few days and if the matter is not resolved then we will decide according to the law." The court directed the mother and son to meet and adjourned the hearing till March 24. The woman had applied to DC South under the Parental Protection Act after a dispute with her daughter-in-law and son.

DC South had instructed her son Akram and daughter-in-law to leave the house. The son had then approached the Sessions Court against the decision of the DC South but the Sessions Court also rejected her son's petition against the eviction. After the decision of DC South and Sessions Court, he approached the Sindh High Court.
