Man picks up women ‘hitchikers’ and gets ‘robbed’

‘Victim’ says he accepted request for a lift by the accused out of sympathy

Police arrested two alleged women bandits who had been accused of hitching a lift to A A Factory in Sheikhupura from the Gutwala Canal Bridge and then robbing the driver of Rs25,000 at gunpoint. 

The complainant, Zohaib Tariq, a civil engineer, told the police that he had been on his way to Khurrianwala in his car at 8 o’clock in the morning when two women at the Gutwala Canal Bridge signaled him to stop.   

“I stopped my car, and the two women said that their car had met with an accident.

‘We have to go to Qasim Colony Khurrianwala’. So I asked them to sit in the backseat of the car out of sympathy.

“When we reached A A Factory in Sheikhupura, one of the accused pulled out a pistol and asked me to pull up,” said Zohaib Tariq. 

He said he compiled with the orders of the accused, and then one of the two accused hit his head with the pistol butt. The blow was so hard that he started bleeding.

In the meanwhile, the accused robbed him of Rs25,000, he said.

The complainant said that many people gathered on the spot when he raised an alarm.

Those people managed to get hold of the accused and called Rescue 15, said Zohaib Tariq. 

Khurrianwala police reached the spot, arrested the two women, registered a case against them under the provisions of 394 TPP and started an investigation.
