Govt to intensify dengue surveillance

Commissioners, DCs directed to monitor dengue situation

Punjab Health Minister Dr Yasmin Rashid and Chief Secretary Kamran Ali Afzal have directed the departments concerned to intensify of dengue surveillance across the province.

The decision was taken at a Cabinet Committee meeting on dengue at the Chief Minister Secretariat on Wednesday.

Present in the meeting were Secretary Primary and Secondary Healthcare Department Imran Sikander Baloch, Special Secretary Saleha Saeed, Additional Secretary Dr Hafiz Shahid Latif, Vertical Programmes Additional Secretary, Director General Health Services Dr Haroon Jehangir, Lahore Waste Management Company CEO Sundas Irshad and officials of other departments.

The health minister and the chief secretary reviewed the anti-dengue plan and Secretary P&SH Department apprised the chair of ongoing activities.

All commissioners and Deputy Commissioners shared their respective reports.

The health minister said, “Based on analysis of existing, we need to boost anti-dengue activities in Lahore. Dengue situation is under constant monitoring. All commissioners and deputy commissioners are personally monitoring surveillance activities. Our teams are busy in larvacidal activities after checking of indoor and outdoor,” she said.
