Female students sensitised about personal hygiene

Screening for hepatitis and thalassemia advised to girls before marriage

KARACHI:

On the occasion of International Women’s Day, an awareness session on hygiene among female students was organised at Karachi Institute of Economics and Technology, PAF Main Campus in collaboration with the Express Media and Métier Group.

The session was addressed by Métier Group Director Muhammad Riaz, Dow University Hospital Consultant Gynaecologist Surgeon Dr Hira and Dr Amina Sibghatullah of PAF KIET. Express Media was represented by Marketing Manager Shahabuddin Faridi and Assistant Marketing Manager Tabassum Abbas.

Muhammad Riaz said that awareness sessions were being organised across the country in collaboration with the Express Media Group. Although this topic is sensitive but we are getting very positive response and this series will be continued. Female students have to become a mother, a teacher and a professional, therefore, it is important to make them aware of the principles of health and hygiene.

Dr Hira urged the students to take care of their internal and external hygiene and also get screening for blood borne diseases.

She said it is important for the girls to get screening for hepatitis and thalassemia before marriage. The use of Pyodine for cleansing the internal organs is beneficial. Dr Hira urged women to take care of hygiene in beauty parlours as well.

Dr Amina Sibghatullah said that a campaign is underway in the institute to provide guidance to the students and make them aware of the principles of hygiene in which various institutions are participating. The session held on the occasion of International Women’s Day under the Express Media and Meter Group was very useful and effective.

Experts advised students to engage in healthy activities during menstruation to avoid depression so as to avoid psychological health problems.
