MNA files FIR against KE

Power utility says holding it responsible for actions of unrelated individuals incorrect

KARACHI:

The Kalakot police registered a case against the CEO of K-Electric at the request of PTI Member National Assembly Abdul Shakoor Shad from Lyari.

Shad told the police that residents of Cheel Chowk staged a protest on Sunday night against the power outage for the last three days.

Police reached the spot and dispersed the crowd peacefully. However, some protesters reached Shad’s residence near Lyari’s Gabol Park and started protesting.

Shad said miscreants pelted stones on his house and threatened to burn it down. However, due to the timely arrival of police and rangers, no major incident was reported. He held KE responsible for threats to his life.

KE responds

City’s power utility, KE, through its spokesperson, expressed its sympathies with MNA Shakoor Shad and strongly condemned the use of force by unknown assailants.

However the spokesperson also clarified that holding the utility responsible for the actions of unrelated individuals was incorrect.
