In absentia funeral prayer offered for ex-AJK CJ in Birmingham

BIRMINGHAM:

Funeral prayer in absentia was offered for the former Chief Justice of Azad Jammu and Kashmir High Court, Justice (retd) Abdul Majeed Mallick at a local mosque in Birmingham on Sunday. Rich tributes were also paid to Justice Mallick on the occasion.

Tehreek-e-Kashmir (TeK) President Raja Fahim Kayani said that Justice Mallick was the real son of the soil who believed that a politically stable and economically strong Pakistan can play a pivotal role to help Kashmiris get their birthright – the right of self-determination granted by the United Nations.

"We will continue to fight for our freedom from India and in this mission Justice Mallick will remain our mentor and guide. Kashmiris across the globe will follow the principles of Justice Mallick to take the ongoing Jammu and Kashmir liberation struggle to its logical conclusion," Kayani added.

Other speakers also hailed the role of late Justice Mallick for the Kashmir cause and termed him the great political leader of the whole state of Jammu and Kashmir.

Justice Mallick had passed away in Mirpur, AJK after a brief illness on March 2. He was laid to rest in Mirpur. He was 89 years old.
