Lahore witnesses spike in street crimes

During the last 24 hours, over 300 such calls were made to police

An unusual spike in robbery bids have been reported in the provincial capital.

In one such brazen incident, a suspected car lifter drove away car of Lahore Press Club Secretary Abdul Majeed Sajid on Thursday.

Sajid, in his complaint before police, said he had parked his car outside the club and went inside the building at his office to perform some official chores.

As he returned, he found his car missing. When the CCTV cameras were checked, a suspect was seen driving his car confidently.

In another incident, a man has been deprived of Rs70,000 during a shop robbery at a pharmacy in Green Town. The victim Adnan said that three suspects wearing masks and carrying firearms entered his pharmacy situated near Umar Chowk. They made him hostage and looted valuables threatening him to shoot dead if he offered resistance.

An FIR has also been registered against the incident.

During the last 24 hours, over 300 such calls were made to police. A day earlier, around 300 such calls were made.

On the other hand, CCPO Lahore Fayyaz Ahmad maintained that the crime graph had descended drastically during last three months in Lahore.
