First Lady Samina Alvi visited the customized wheelchair manufacturing unit of Society for Special Persons (SSP), distributing 22 laptops among physically challenged girls under the e-empowerment initiative for persons with disabilities.

While talking to the girls, the first lady observed that the girls could earn a handsome income through online work, hinting that educated youths across the globe were earning billions of rupees by performing online work.

She further stated that the incumbent government was taking a number of initiatives for the welfare of differently-abled persons, while acknowledging the problems of the differently-abled persons from officials of the social welfare department and representatives of different non-government organizations.

While touring the facility, she extolled the work of the differently-abled staff at the wheelchair manufacturing unit. This event was also attended by Chairperson of the Society for Special Persons Zahida Hameed, Representative of World Health Organization Mariyum Malik, Taare Zameen Par CEO Fadia Kashif, and many other officials from the social welfare department.
