From movie to the show, here are your T Magazine picks of the week!

Movie: Nightmare Alley

Stanton Carlisle (Bradley Cooper), a charismatic conman decides to get the help of a clairvoyant and a mentalist to con tycoon. It is a stunning display of directing by Guillermo del Toro and a star-studded cast that gives an audience a movie that is both moralistic and cruel. This is a remake where the original was filmed in 1947, and it visually succeeds with a grand display in cinematography, costume and set design. Even though this movie about exploiting the exploiters the characters are irredeemable like the people they’re conning. A thought-provoking film with a stylized design that accentuates it, and with Guillermo del Toro’s track record of superb filmmaking this film will not disappoint.

Song: “Amazing” by Rex Orange County

The second official single from Rex Orange County’s fourth studio album, “Who Cares?” Uplifting and the song that you’d listen to a sunrise. A song, that was hinted in one of Rex’s TikTok livestreams, is about falling in love and how being honest about one’s feelings is all that is needed to feel amazing. Accompanied with a music video which depicts a caricature of hand puppets, where the video follows a farmer who’s too shy to confess his feelings to one of his customers. It is a quirky and funny video that matches with the upbeat feeling of the song.  It’s an optimistic song, a true feel-good.

Game: Sifu

It has constantly been compared to the Dark Soul series, with its game difficulty, mechanics and controls. This game is stylish while also providing that adrenaline-pumping action and with a story that follows a kung fu student’s path to revenge. It is a game that pits you against everyone else, no help—just your skills and fists. This game will be a challenge to complete, and it is good reason why this game has been compared to Dark Soul, be prepared to invest time into this game.  If you’ve been looking for a game to test your gaming skills and a game that delivers a proper challenge that rewards true hard work.

Show: Euphoria (Season 2)

Only from teenage drama can events, minor or major, can feel like a catastrophe or bliss, and Euphoria intensifies the teenage drama where it teeters from classroom gossip to physical assault. It is a show that leaves viewer questioning the gravity of their experience of adolescence. The hype for the second season has been long been awaited, the delay due to Covid, and reception was the same as it was for season one. You’ll see a side of high school that experiences trauma, drugs, friendships, love and sex. It’s a show that is known for its shock value and people can’t help enjoy and relate to the almost unreal situations that these highschoolers go through in the show.
