PESHAWAR:

The business community of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa has urged the concerned authorities to simplify the visa issuance process to boost bilateral trade and economic relations between Pakistan and Malaysia.

In a meeting with High Commission of Malaysia Charge D’ Affairs Deddy Faisal Ahmad Salleh on Monday, the traders called for reaping complete benefits of the free trade agreement (FTA) that was signed between the two countries.

The collaboration between Pakistan and Malaysia can enhance the share of the two countries in the international Halal food market, they stressed.

Responding to different queries of SCCI members, Salleh said that Malaysia was keen to boost trade and economic relations with Pakistan.

He stated that mutual trade volume between the two brotherly countries had improved in the past two years owing to signing of the free trade agreement (FTA).

The Malaysian High Commission in Pakistan would soon launch an e-visa facility to enable online issuance of visas which would resolve the problems of the business community, informed the diplomat.

He highlighted that his country had taken pragmatic steps to facilitate foreign investors at every level.

“We will extend full cooperation to traders and exporters associated with the honey sector of Pakistan,” he assured.

On the occasion, Sarhad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) President Hasnain Khurshid called for fully utilising the FTA between the two countries to bolster mutual economic and trade ties.

Collaboration between Pakistan and Malaysia can enhance the share of the two nations in the global Halal food market, he said.

Khurshid emphasised the need for further improvement in bilateral trade and economic relations between Pakistan and Malaysia.

The process of issuance of business visas should be simplified to ensure timely visa facility to the community, he added.
