Family deprived of gold jewellery, cash
Armed robbers stole gold jewellery, cash, foreign currency, mobile phones and other valuables from a house after holding the family hostage at gunpoint within the Rawat police station limits. Muhammad Usman Ghani, a resident of Garden City Phase-7, told police that he was having dinner with his family at 9 pm when six armed robbers barged into his house.
The robbers locked him and his family in a room and tortured them and looted 36 tola jewellery worth Rs4.5 million, cash worth Rs100,000, pounds and one thousand dollars, watches, mobile phones, cameras and other items. A few days ago, robbers had deprived a family of their savings at gunpoint.
Dozens of robbery and burglary incidents have occurred within the limits of Phase-8 Rawat police check post in the recent past. Meanwhile, Rawat Police foiled an attempt to illegally encroach a piece of land from a local resident and arrested a group of land grabbers.
According to the Rawalpindi Police spokesman, police also recovered two Kalashnikovs, a pistol and a large quantity of ammunition from their possession. The operation was conducted on the special directives of City Police Officer (CPO) Omar Saeed Malik and supervised by SP Saddar, SHO Rawat Inspector Allahyar and his team who took immediate action and arrested the accused.
The accused were identified as Faheem, Shafaqat, Rameez, Musarrat, Tauseef, Shahbaz, Gulfraz and Naeem Kayani. CPO Omar Saeed Malik appreciated the performance of police teams. He said that strict action would be taken against such criminals. CPO made it clear that it was the prime duty of the police to protect the lives and properties of the people.
