K-P Bar Council rejects PECA ordinance

Statement says that the ordinance should be withdrawn

PESHAWAR:

Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) Bar Council has rejected outright the amendments to the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA) through a presidential ordinance.

In a press statement Bar Council voiced its concern and said that the ordinance is against the law and constitution of Pakistan in its very nature.

The statement says that the ordinance should be withdrawn and bar councils should be taken into confidence before any such legislation.

The vice chairman of K-P Bar Council Muhammad Ali Khan Jadoon and Chairman Executive Committee Muhammad Ilyas Khan in a joint press statement said that the ordinance introduced by the federal government is against the basic human rights described in the constitution of Pakistan.
