Rains have severely affected the cotton crop in Sindh
ISLAMABAD:
Rains have severely affected the cotton crop in Sindh, giving rise to the fears that the cotton production target for the current year may not be achieved, member of the Pakistan Cotton Ginners Association’s executive committee, Ehsanul Haque, said on Thursday. Talking to a television channel, he said that cotton crops in Badin, Tando Mohammad Khan, Mirpurkhas, Thatta and Gharo had been affected by the torrential rains, giving rise to the fears that the current year’s target of 15 million cotton bales would not be met. Haque said that the price of cotton on Thursday increased in Punjab by Rs100 to Rs6,600 per maund while it increased by Rs50 to Rs6,250 per maund in Sindh.
