Traffic police to introduce e-challan books

Traffic Police has decided to introduce e-challan books in place of manual challan books to control discrepancies in ticket issuance.
The e-challan book will have a Payment Slip ID (PSID) code that will be connected to the online system. The book will also have a code of the district concerned inscribed the book with the PSID code.
The details available with The Express Tribune revealed that each book will contain 50 traffic violation tickets in triplicate. The first leave will be white, the second pink and the third is yellow.
The violations will be inscribed on the backside of each leaf on the Motor Vehicles Ordinance Rules 1969 in Urdu.
Each leaf will have an 18-digit PISD digit or payment slip identification number. The first six digits of the PSID number is related to the challan book number. The two of these six digits represent the district.
The next digits are related to the number of leave in the challan book. At the end of the PSID number will be four empty boxes wherein the amount of fine imposed could be entered by the challaning officer.
Below the PSID number, spaces have been left empty for the name of the traffic sector, date and time of the offence committed, offenders name, his/her address, registration number of the vehicle, violation code, type of document seized and the amount of fine imposed by the challaning officer.
The next two paras have been designed to convey information to citizens like the offender is to deposit the prescribed fine at any bank outlet mentioned. It will also mention if the offender is declared guilty by the court for not paying the fine within 10 days.
