Minister disburses stipends among boys and girls

Federal Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Dr Babar Awan inaugurated the Dr Babar Awan Hall at the Government Boys High School in Kahuta.

Addressing the event, the minister said that Prime Minister Imran Khan, had for the first time, set aside Rs65 billion as a stipend for boys and girls of rural public schools. He also distributed stipends among the boys and girls on behalf of the government.

He assured that he had never forgotten his roots and therefore, built a road, a school and established a hospital in his hometown, Hothala. He added that he was trying to bring the area under the federal government so that fast-paced development could place in the area as well.

Women college ground-breaking

On Monday, Federal Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed said that Chief Minister Punjab Sardar Usman Buzdar would formally perform a ground-breaking ceremony of the Government Degree College for Women Dhoke Dalal on March 4.

The minister also said construction work on the building would be completed soon. During his visit to the college site, he said that only educated nations make progress. He added that an educated mother was the guarantor of the best training for the next generation.

He then informed that three women universities were established in Rawalpindi, in addition to setting up 60 educational institutions. The minister added that a four kanal and three marla land of the Evacuee Trust Property Board was acquired in Dhoke Dalal to establish a women degree college. He said that the Government of Punjab (GoP) had already released Rs100 million for the construction of the college. He further added that demand of Rs88 million had also been sent so that the project could be completed within the shortest possible time frame.

The minister directed the authorities concerned to make no compromise on the quality of construction work. He said that all the public sector educational institutions were being upgraded, particularly in the areas of the poor and lower-middle class.
