The main objective of this road safety campaign is to ensure safety of people, while road users are being educated about lane discipline during the drive.

The Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Traffic Rai Mazhar Iqbal has constituted special teams to control lane violations on various roads. He has instructed the smooth flow of traffic in the city. Strict checking is also being done against those not using helmets during bike rides, those who use mobile phones while driving and those not fastening their seat belts during the drive.

ITP’s team remain present on all important roads, including Islamabad Expressway, and Srinagar (Kashmir) highway to educate road users about traffic rules. The ITP’s FM Radio 92.4 is also disseminating messages about road safety and educating the audience about traffic rules.

The SSP (Traffic) has also appealed to citizens to cooperate with the force by following traffic laws. He said that action would be taken against those not following lanes while driving. The sole purpose is to ensure safe road environment in the city, he said.

He hoped that citizens would follow traffic rules and help ITP through their cooperation in ensuring secure traffic system in the city. Those violating traffic rules will be fined and safer road environment would be ensured through constant monitoring, the SSP maintained.

The force issues traffic violation tickets not as a punitive measure, but the purpose is to ensure safe road environment in the capital and secure the lives of the people, the SSP added.
