LAHORE:

Punjab Health Minister Dr Yasmin Rashid said on Sunday that over 14,000 people had availed free cardiac treatment through the Naya Pakistan Qaumi Sehat Card and 98 per cent of the beneficiaries had expressed satisfaction over the services offered through the programme.

The minister distributed the health cards among residents of union councils 59 and 60 in the provincial capital. “Prime Minister Imran Khan had said in his first speech after taking oath that providing better health facilities to the people would be his first priority,” she said on the occasion, adding that the insurance limit of the card had been increased from Rs720,000 to Rs1 million.

She said all family heads in the province with valid Computerised National Identity Cards (CNICs) would be given the health cards. “It is very important for all citizens to register their family details with the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA). Complete details of free health facilities and other information can be obtained through the Naya Pakistan Qaumi Sehat Card App. For further queries, people may contact the helpline number 0800-09009,” the minister announced.

So far, more than 763,000 people have availed the free health insurance facility. Over 14,000 people have availed free cardiac treatment through the card and 98 % users have expressed satisfaction with the services, she added.

The health minister said, “No past government ever thought of free treatment of people. Past governments focused on roads and bridges and never paid attention to free health facilities.” She said the prime minister would fulfill all the promises made to the people. “We will end corruption and the taxpayers’ money will be spent on the people alone,” she asserted.
