Covid-19 claims six more lives in Pindi
At least six more coronavirus patients died in Rawalpindi during the last 24 hours, taking the total deaths to 1,313 in the district so far.
Health officials said that 1,378 people were tested during the last 24 hours and of them, 37 were tested positive.
According to them, the ratio of positive cases during the fifth wave of the Omicron variant in garrison city has dropped to 2.69 per cent.
Health officials said that in the last 24 hours, 37 patients of the coronavirus were discharged from hospitals during the last 24 hours. They said that the number of patients undergoing treatment of Covid-19 positive in six hospitals has increased to 57.
Health officials said that of the new 37 coronavirus positive cases, five hailed from Cantonment areas, nine from Pothohar Town, eight from Rawal Town, eight from Gujjar Khan, three from Kahuta, one from Murree, one to Kotli Satyan, and two from Taxila.
Health officials said that a gradual decrease in the intensity of the fifth wave of coronavirus has been witnessed in the Rawalpindi district.
They said that at present, the number of patients in home isolation is 488 while of the 57 patients undergoing treatment in six different hospitals, 12 were in stable condition, three were on ventilators and 42 were on double oxygen.
The District Health Authority has intensified the process of administering the booster dose in addition to the second dose of coronavirus to the citizens during the door-to-door campaign.
District Health Officer Dr Ehsan Ghani said that as a result of the vaccination drive, the positivity rate has dropped to 2.69 per cent in the district.
He said that a 100 per cent target of vaccination will be achieved before March 25 as more and more citizens were cooperating in this regard.
Meanwhile, health officials on Sunday said that 62 new coronavirus cases were reported in the federal capital, making it the lowest single-day tally in the last 30 days.
According to an official of the National Command and Operation Centre, as many as 1 89 cases were reported on Saturday while 84 cases were reported on Friday. He added so far 133,764 cases were reported from the federal capital with 1,002 deaths.
