QUETTA:

The Employees union of Metropolitan Corporation Quetta (MCQ) rejected Balochistan government order to pay two month salary to the protesting employees, demanding payment of all their dues soon.

The MCQ alliance announced to continue the protest and decided to expand it from next week.

The protest will continue till permanent and daily wage employees get their salaries, retirement arrears and retired employees get monthly pension, they announced.

Addressing a rally on Friday under the auspices of the Metropolitan Corporation's organizational alliance, the president of the union condemned Balochistan government’s delaying tactics in releasing their salaries and pensions.

“The employees could no longer be misled by releasing only two salaries,” he added.

The issues of non-payment of pensions and daily wages have not been combined with the non-payment of salaries as retirement arrears of 18 employees have not been paid so far, he mentioned.

“We reject the two-month salary release order and announce that the protest will continue until the release of the retired employees dues and daily wagers are resolved,” he said.

“From Monday, February 21, we will announce a new phase of our protest,” he added.

He said that the MCQ employees’ alliance will decide the next course of action in which other options including peaceful processions will be considered.
