Jaswant Singh to be readmitted into BJP

Indian Lok Sabha MP and former external affairs minister Jaswant Singh will rejoin the BJP on Thursday.

ISLAMABAD:
Indian Lok Sabha MP and former external affairs minister Jaswant Singh will rejoin the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) later on Thursday.

He will be admitted into the party in the presence of senior leader LK Advani and party president Nitin Gadkari, quoting party spokesman Ramnath Kovind an Indian television channel reported.

Jaswant Singh's re induction into the party fold comes 10 months after he was expelled from the BJP over his book on Pakistan's founder Muhammad Ali Jinnah called ‘Jinnah: India – Partition Independence’ in August last year.

Singh represents Darjeeling in West Bengal in the Lok Sabha.

Discussing his book with The Express Tribune in April, Singh had said that he didn’t write the book because he “was fascinated with Jinnah” but rather he was looking at “why we divided”.

Also, in an interview with Kamran Shahid, Singh had said that Muhammad Ali Jinnah was not in favour of the partition himself.
