Rs65m approved for construction of new ‘tehsil complex’

Despite its deteriorating condition, the current building presents a splendour look even today

RAWALPINDI:

The Punjab government has approved Rs65 million for the construction of a new tehsil complex in Rawalpindi.

The new tehsil complex equipped with modern facilities will be built on the site of the historic tehsil office on Saddar Road, Raja Bazar Rawalpindi.

The crumbling oldest tehsil office was built in 1830. The tehsil complex is spread on over 14 kanals of land in the most expensive area and in the heart of the city.

Despite its deteriorating condition, the current building presents a splendour look even today.

Under the new plan, the old building will be replaced by a new three-storey tehsil complex, which will have offices for assistant commissioners, tehsildars, property registrar, revenue officers and deputy tehsildars etc.
