Alia Bhatt's Gangubai goes to Berlin: Decoding actor's Rs1.6 million look

Here's a lowdown of everything the actor wore for her first day at the Berlinale

The much-awaited Sanjay Leela Bhansali directorial Gangubai Kathiawadi is heading for a global premiere at the prestigious Berlin International Film Festival. Alia Bhatt, who plays the titular role of Gangubai in the film, will be attending the premiere at the Berlinale Special Galas section on February 16.

The Kapoor and Sons actor was spotted in an all-white attire – comprising of a white high-neck crop top with high-waisted trousers and boots – channelling a stark Gangubai energy while on her way to the Berlinale. White has been a staple wardrobe choice for Bhatt throughout the promotions. She was accompanied by her elder sister Shaheen Bhatt.

The 450,000rs jacquard gown came with a flared skirt and a fitted bodice flaunting the layered off-shoulder neckline. The flared skirt featuring intricate cut-outs all over the dress gave a princess-esque look to the overall ensemble.

Taking white on the white game to the next level, the Raazi star teamed the gown with a Stamford coat carrying large notch-lapel collars, full sleeves, pockets on the side, and embellished buttons on the front. Accessorising the look with yellow roses in her hair, she left her locks in a side parting, styling them in soft waves, with minimal makeup to round off the glam picks.

Posting a picture of the red carpet on her Instagram story, she wrote, “Meet me at the Berlinale Red Carpet with Sanjay Leela Bhansali, 8 pm on February 16.”

An adaptation of one of the chapters from the renowned author Hussain Zaidi’s book, Mafia Queens of Mumbai, Gangubai Kathiawadi tells the tale of Mumbai’s red-light area, Kamathipura’s most powerful, loved and respected matriarch

Bhatt had revealed that her latest will eventually make its way to the Berlin Film Festival on Twitter earlier. She had written, “So grateful to be part of a wonderful team that now celebrates its official selection to the Berlin Film Festival 2022. See you on 18th February 2022.”

Gangubai Kathiawadi marks the second time a Bhatt movie has premiered at the prestigious festival. Her 2019 musical Gully Boy was also given the stage at Berlinale.

The Highway actor has a long year of promotions and shooting ahead of her. She will be seen in the upcoming films RRR, Brahmastra- Part I, Darlings, Jee Le Zaraa and Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani. Darlings will also mark her debut in the production venture under the banner Sunshine Productions.
