Demolition of illegal marriage halls in Korangi ordered

Demolition to begin within a week

KARACHI:

The Sindh High Court has ordered demolition of illegal marriage halls in Korangi.

A two-member bench headed by Justice Syed Hassan Azhar Rizvi heard the petition against non-demolition of illegal marriage halls in Korangi. The court was angry with the SBCA officials for not complying with its orders. Justice Rizvi remarked, “When the order of the Supreme Court has been issued, why the marriage halls are not being demolished?”

The SBCA counsel argued that illegal marriage hall owners were being given show cause notices. The demolition of the illegal marriage halls will begin in a week. The court remarked that earlier when the case was going on, several officers were present in the court. “It seemed that they would go with the machines to demolish the same day. Are you afraid of taking action now?” the court remarked.

The counsel argued that Bandhan Marriage Hall has been demolished.

The court ordered to demolish the illegal marriage halls and submit a report within four weeks.
