Police arrest guard, confiscate 12 bore repeater with live rounds

The security guard of a petrol pump on Saturday shot a man dead who was allegedly stealing the lid of an underground tank of the fuel station near the Gurmandar roundabout.

Police have arrested the security guard and launched an investigation into the incident.

An unidentified man in his thirties was killed in a firing incident at a petrol pump within the limits of Jamshed Quarters police station.

The victim's body was shifted to Civil Hospital for legal formalities.

SHO Jamshed Quarter Majid Korai said that the person who was killed in the firing was allegedly stealing the iron lid of the underground tank of the petrol pump of a private company.

The security guard of the petrol pump fired from his 12 bore repeater. The alleged thief was shot in the face and died on the spot.

The SHO said that the deceased appeared to be a drug addict but police were trying to identify him.

He said that after the incident, Jamshed Quarters police reached the spot and detained the security guard, Sohail Aslam Nadeem son of Muhammad Aslam and seized the 12 bore repeater gun and its live rounds.

He said that the detained security guard has been shifted to the police station.

The SHO said police had obtained the footage of CCTV cameras installed at petrol pumps in which two suspects can be seen riding a motorcycle.
