Police SI shot dead by armed assailants

SI Liaquat Ali sustained bullets in the chest and abdomen and was moved to a hospital where he succumbed to injuries

A police sub-inspector was killed within Bhara Kahu police limits when he tried to arrest armed persons who were fleeing after launching an armed attack on citizens in the federal capital A police spokesman said on Saturday that the official gunman of the police officer also retaliated and shot and injured an attacker The martyred police officer has been identified as SI Liaquat Ali, whose funeral prayer was offered at the Police Lines Headquarters.

A case has been registered against the accused, the spokesperson said. According to the police spokesperson, Sher Khan along with armed accomplices launched an armed attack on the management of a private housing society in Bhara Kahu. Adam Khan and others were heading towards the police station for filing a complaint against the attackers when they targeted them. As a result of firing by Sher Khan and his accomplices, Adam Khan and another waiter of a hotel suffered bullet injuries and were rushed to hospital, he said.

Since the firing incident took place outside the police station, SI Liaquat Ali, an officer on duty, started chasing the fleeing gunmen. The gunmen also opened fire on the police team, he said adding that resultantly SI Liaquat Ali sustained bullets in the chest and abdomen and was moved to a hospital where he succumbed to injuries.
