PESHAWAR:

Highlighting the performance of all the Dispute Resolution Councils (DRC), the Secretary DRC said that from 2016 to date, 2,858 dispute applications were received out of which more than 2,632 disputes have successfully been resolved to the satisfaction of the parties with the help of the elders.

Giving details of the progress, he disclosed that the DRC is making concerted efforts to reconcile the remaining disputes.

Ziaullah Khan Bangash during the meeting briefed all the participants on the establishment of DRC, its aims and objectives, and the method of resolving issues through understanding and Jirga system.

Every effort should be made to solve the problems of the people in accordance with the prevailing laws through mutual understanding, Bangash said.

He also directed the DRC administration to make serious efforts for reconciliation in the longstanding feuds and take the parties to peace and conciliation so as to restore peace and order in the district.

The alternate dispute resolution system had been adopted to save time of the people and decrease load on police stations as well as the judiciary.

The aim of the DRC was to solve minor disputes with the consent of the parties without involving police as police cases lead to lengthy law procedure which results in huge expenditure.
