RAWALPINDI:

Due to the new rising tide of terrorism in the country, instructions have been issued to all citizens and homeowners in the garrison city and Cantonment areas to submit complete tenants’ biodata in the local police stations before rent-out their houses or portion of houses as a precautionary measure.

The owner will be required to submit the identity card, photograph and affidavit of the tenant along with his name in the local police station.

In case of violation, the owner will be arrested and dealt with in accordance with law besides sending to jail.

The tenancy act was enacted three years ago during the war on terror but no action has been taken in this regard for over a year now. Now, the government again has started its implementation with zero tolerance.

Meanwhile, the Special Branch of police has also started checking hotels and inns across the city in the morning and late at night.

Hotel owners have been directed to rent out rooms only on the identity cards of citizens. Checking of identity cards of hotel, inn and house renters has also been started in this regard.
