Artworks of Potohar region’s artists on display

Exhibition features landscapes, miniatures, calligraphy, sculptures

Commissioner Rawalpindi Division Noorul Amin Mengal has said the artist is an ambassador of peace and he conveys the message of love and tolerance through his art. He was addressing a function after inaugurating a joint painting exhibition at the Punjab Arts Council (PAC) Rawalpindi on Tuesday. The exhibition featured works by Najam Kazmi, Aftab Ahmed Chingizi, Azeem Iqbal, Abdul Rehman Tabani, Asif Hussain, Ashraf Heera, Rehmat Ali, Muhammad Hussain, Aiman Mahmood, Adil Mahmood and Mahmood Ali.

The commissioner said that it was a memorable experience to bring together the works of both experienced and young artists under one roof. He said it was proof that there were renowned artists in every field of art in this country. He added that many famous artists belonged to the Potohar region and they had displayed their creativity everywhere. Mengal expressed special interest in calligraphy specimens and said that the old style of doing calligraphy would be displayed at the exhibition. He said that it had a unique place in the world and was appreciated far and wide. He saw over 70 paintings and calligraphy by 11 artists at the art gallery.

He appreciated the creativity of the artists. Former council Director Naheed Manzoor said special attention was being paid to the promotion of arts and culture in the region. “The PAC has always been one step ahead in spreading Potohar culture to the world,” she added. PAC Director Waqar Ahmed said that the Potohar region was rich in art and culture. He said that PAC always encouraged young artists and played a significant role in teaching and promoting various arts. The exhibition featured landscapes, miniatures, calligraphy, sculptures and cityscapes.
