USC jacks up essential items rates
The prices of essential items including, ghee, oil, spices, pulses, milk, mixed milk, ketchup, soap and shampoo, have become dearer at all Utility Stores across the country.
According to a notification issued by the Utility Stores Corporation on Tuesday, the price of good quality ghee has increased from Rs355 per kilo to Rs402 while good quality cooking oil from Rs355 per kg to Rs412.
The price of a five-kilogramme can of good quality ghee increased by Rs237 to Rs2,032 from Rs1,795, while that of a five-kg can of good quality oil has gone up from Rs1,795 to Rs2,085, reflecting an increase of Rs287.
Different brands of oil and ghee have registered an average increase of Rs70 per kilo.
A 100-gramme packet of turmeric’s price has increased by Rs8 to Rs43 from Rs35.
The price of 50-gramme garam masala has climbed by Rs16 to Rs81 from the earlier Rs67, while that of a 200-gramme packet of white cumin rose by Rs32 to Rs230 from Rs198.
The price of a 100-gramme packet of big cardamom has increased from Rs95 to Rs98.
Packaged milk price also increased by Rs5 per litre to Rs162 from the earlier Rs157.

The price of mixed pickles increased by Rs65 per kg to Rs350 from Rs285.
The rate of a 950-gramme ketchup pouch increased by Rs26 to Rs268 from Rs242.
Seventy-five grammes of toothpaste’s price increased by Rs43 to Rs328 from Rs285.
The price of 155-gramme of kheer increased by R 24 to Rs100 from Rs76.
The prices of 175 to 186 millilitres of shampoo of different brands also increased by up to Rs40.
The prices of pulses have also increased. That of dal chana rose by Rs17 per kilo to Rs162 from the previous Rs145.
The price of chickpeas went up by Rs53 per kilo to Rs218 from Rs165, while that of black chickpeas increased by Rs17 per kg to Rs172.
The rate of dal masur increased by Rs85 per kg to Rs215 from Rs130 and dal mash rose by Rs13 per kg to Rs278.
