The top cop heading the security and emergency services of Karachi police has successfully defended his thesis on terror financing before a jury at a globally recognized university in the UK.
Security and Emergency Services Division Maqsood Ahmed has secured his doctorate on Financing Terrorism in Pakistan from Northumbria University, Newcastle, UK, a spokesman said on Monday.
His doctorate aims to explore the key factors that influence the current counter-terrorism policy in Pakistan. This research will pave the way for further research in this area and help legislators, prosecutors, law enforcement agencies, and academics to examine it for policymaking in Pakistan.
Dr Maqsood Ahmed is known for his exceptional services such as setting up the special security unit (SSU). The President of Pakistan has also awarded him the 'Tamgha-e-Imtiaz' (Medal of Distinction) for his outstanding services.

In 2019, he was nominated for a training programme on The Cyber Threat Landscape for Law Enforcement Executives, organised by the FBI National Academy in the USA.
He represented Pakistan and Sindh Police on the platforms of the International Police Association in Croatia, the Netherlands, Bulgaria, New Zealand, Cyprus and Germany.
The Police Service of Pakistan and the Government of Sindh can rightly be proud of the scholarly contribution of one of their talented officers.
