KARACHI:

The process of vaccination against coronavirus remained suspended for the sixth consecutive day at the Expo Centre.

Students and citizens who reached the centre to get the jab against coronavirus had to return without being vaccinated.

The citizens have demanded of the Sindh government to ensure the continuation of vaccination process including availability of vaccines at vaccination centres. The vaccinators and allied staff, protesting for non-payment of salaries, announced to continue their protest till the payment of wages, outstanding for nine months.

Accompanying the students, the parents said that the government was issuing orders to get vaccinated but was not paying attention to the situation at vaccination centres.

“Vaccination has been made compulsory for students to attend their classes but vaccines are not available at vaccination centers.

“We have to go from one centre to another. The government should pay attention to the administrative matters and ensure availability of vaccines at the centres.”

On the other hand the protesting employees have said that the salaries of more than 200 data operators, IT department workers as well as vaccinators were not being released.

“The Director Health Karachi has assured us to provide salaries by January 31. If the salaries are not released by January 31, the scope of protest will be expanded and the Sindh government will be responsible for that,” they mentioned.
