KARACHI:

The Sindh High Court (SHC) has ordered the demolition of a six-storey building, constructed without permission, in District Central. It also directed that a case be filed against the builders and SBCA officers involved.

The court was hearing a petition against the building. The petitioner's counsel contended that SBCA had disclosed, in its report, that the construction of a ground-plus-six storey building was continuing without permission.

The court ordered the continuation of proceedings against the illegal structure. The SHC ordered the filing of a case against the builder involved in such illegal constructions. It ordered that a case should also be registered against SBCA officers stationed in the area during the construction of the building.

The SHC ordered SBCA to remove illegal constructions within two months. It also sought a report on the action at the next hearing.

Meanwhile, the SHC directed the KDA authorities to submit a comprehensive report against the settlement of goths in the suburbs of Gulistan-e-Johar. The SHC heard petitions against the settlements. Petitioner's counsel DA Altas stated that the court had ordered the immediate removal of all goths.

"Despite court orders, no action is being taken. KDA allotted lands, but seized them. Goths were leased with the connivance of the Board of Revenue," he argued. The court consolidated the petitions related to the Gulistan-e-Johar land dispute.

It directed KDA authorities to submit a comprehensive report.
