The residents of Gurguri, Karak district of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) on Friday ended their sit-in against the murder of one security guard and kidnaping of a security adviser during an attack at an oil field in Hangu district last night.

Both the deceased security guard and his supervisor were residents of Gurguri, Karak district who had been deployed for the security of oil field in Hangu. Local residents even raised a traditional ‘Chaga party’ and gave the attackers a chase but they managed to escape with their hostage who local residents believed was wounded as they found blood everywhere during their chase.

“On Thursday local residents started a sit-in along with the coffin of the deceased security guard. They demanded recovery of the supervisor who had been made hostage by the attackers and taken away and a Shaheed package for the deceased guard’s family,” said a local elder while talking to The Express Tribune.

“The sit-in continued on Friday too but the district administration met the leaders of the protest and promised that the kidnapped man would be recovered within three days,” he said, adding that a shaheed package was also promised for the deceased security guard after which the protesting villagers agreed to bury the dead body of the slain guard and dispersed.
