A gang of muggers snatched mobile phones and wallets from more than 30 people sitting outside a tea shop in Karimabad, within the limits of Azizabad police station.

During the central district’s largest mobile phone snatching incident, armed suspects escaped after looting valuable mobile phones, cash, and other belongings worth millions of rupees from more than 30 people enjoying tea on tables placed on encroached section of footpath.

According to an eyewitness, six suspects came on three motorcycles and looted mobile phones, cash and other valuables from customers and the cafe owner and fled away. All the suspects were wearing Two robbers remained on standby on their motorcycles while four looted the citizens. All the suspects were armed with pistols.

About 50 people were sitting outside the hotel at the time of the incident, some of whom managed to escape. There were more than ten people inside the café whose belongings remained safe.

Police were provided with International Mobile Equipment Identity (IMEI) numbers of six mobile phones. Some victims may contact the police in the morning. Police will begin an investigation after obtaining footage from CCTV cameras installed outside the bank. Like all other crimes in the city, police have failed to control the menace of street crimes.
