PC-I of kidney dialysis unit finalised

Project to be completed at estimated cost of Rs300 million

RAWALPINDI:

The project concept (PC-1) of a state-of-the-art kidney dialysis unit at the Institute of Urology and Liver Transplant (RIUT) has been finalised.

The new free of cost kidney dialysis unit will be constructed at an estimated cost of Rs300 million.

A total of 200 state-of-the-art dialysis machines will be installed in the new five-storey centre with 40 dialysis machines on each floor.

According to Rawalpindi Medical University Vice-Chancellor Dr Umar that he along with his technical team has prepared the PC-1 of the project. The PC-1 has been submitted to the office of Rawalpindi commissioner for approval, he said. Work on the project is expected to start in the current financial year. Funds for the project will be provided by the Punjab government besides a portion of the funds from the MNA’s Fund will be released for the project.

Federal Parliamentary Secretary Sheikh Rashid Shafiq said that the ground floor of the five-storey dialysis centre will be completed in the first phase.

The construction of the building will cost Rs150 million while Rs150 million will be spent on the renovation and installation of 40 modern dialysis machines, he said.

The remaining four floors of the building will be constructed in the second phase after the activation of the ground floor of the project, he said adding the ground floor of the new dialysis centre will be completed within one year.

The year 2022 remains quite successful for the people of Rawalpindi with a lot of work done in the field of the health sector in the district.

The residents of the Rawalpindi division have started getting benefits from new health cards.

Health insurance cover of Rs1 million will be provided to every individual under the health card.
