51 use health cards on first day of issuance
A total of 51 patients have been referred to eight hospitals across the Rawalpindi division since the ‘Naya Pakistan Health Card’ scheme came into force on Friday.
Twelve hospitals have been set up for free treatments in Rawalpindi, Attock, Jhelum and Chakwal. Families residing in these districts will now be eligible for an insurance card facility of up to Rs1 million. However, only those registered with the National Database and Registration Authority will be entitled to it.
Free treatment has also begun, with two patients already undergoing heart surgery, and six undergoing kidney dialysis. According to a statement of the Ministry of Health, the identity card will be considered as a health card, beginning January 20.
Regular counters have also been set up in each of the respective hospitals, said Provincial Parliamentary Secretary Chaudhry Adnan.
