Kidnapped minor girl reunited with family

Suspect was travelling to Lahore with the girl when police arrested him

KURIANWALA:

A kidnapped minor girl was recovered by Kharrianwala police on Friday.

Police said the kidnapper was on his way to Lahore with the abducted minor when Kharrianwala police arrested the suspect and recovered the abducted girl.

A police official said Shaan Ali, a resident of D-Type Colony, along with his wife and one-and-half-year-old daughter came to the local market for shopping.

Police said suspect Atif kidnapped the minor girl from the bazaar and took her to Lasori Shah Darbar. The parents of the child reported the matter to the police.

The police checked the CCTV cameras and concluded that a man has abducted the child and moved towards Lasori Shah Darbar.

The police official said that the kidnapper was travelling from Faisalabad to Lahore. He said that a passenger of the same bus informed police that a suspicious person is taking a child with him and asked police to reach the toll tax plaza.

The highway police were informed about the abduction of the one-and-a-half-year-old following which SHO Kharrianwala Roy Arshad along with Dolphin Police reached near Kharrianwala Toll Plaza where they stopped the bus.

The suspicious man was detained, while the SHO Kharrianwala sent a picture of the recovered girl to DSP Kotwali and found out that the girl was abducted from the Kotwali area on which the high officials handed over the kidnapper to Kotwali police. A case was registered against the kidnapper under Sections 363 of Pakistan Penal Code (PPC) on the statement of the father of the recovered girl. The SHO Kharrianwala Roy Arshad said, kidnapper Atif pretended to be dumb during the preliminary interrogation.

He said that the kidnapper confessed that he had abducted the child while he was kept in remand.

The SHO said that the kidnapper introduced the child as his daughter. The police were interrogating the kidnapper further. The child was handed over to her parents.
