Dutch delegation to tour Pakistan in March

Envoy says businessmen interested in investing in food processing, dairy

ISLAMABAD:

A Dutch delegation comprising businessmen from the dairy and cheese sector will visit Pakistan from March 23-24, 2022 to explore investment opportunities and hold business-to-business (B2B) meetings with local counterparts, announced Netherlands’ Ambassador Wouter Plomp.

Speaking in a meeting with Board of Investment Chairman Azfar Ahsan and Secretary Fareena Mazhar on Thursday, the ambassador revealed that Friesland Campina had established Pakistan Netherlands dairy excellence centre in Lahore, which would be inaugurated during the visit of the Dutch delegation.

He conveyed the interest of Dutch businessmen to invest in various sectors such as maritime, food processing and dairy.

The Board of Investment is making arrangements for meetings between delegation members and different ministers as well as President Arif Alvi and Prime Minister Imran Khan.

On the occasion, the Board of Investment leadership briefed the ambassador about Pakistan’s liberal investment regime and the government’s commitment to promoting investment.

The envoy was apprised of the board’s role as the apex investment promotion agency and the Special Economic Zones along with the incentives available in those areas.

Board of Investment Chairman Azfar Ahsan appreciated the interest of Dutch companies in Pakistan’s market and invited them to participate in the Global Investment Summit scheduled to be held in March 2022.

The envoy was pleased to learn about the board’s efforts aimed at creating a conducive business environment.
