LAHORE:

Punjab Chief Minister's Special Assistant for Information Hasaan Khawar has said that not only has not a single new vehicle been purchased for the CM Office since 2018, but its existing fleet of vehicles has been halved.

In a statement, he maintained that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) came into government with the slogan of austerity.

That is why from 2018 to date, no vehicle has been purchased and the fleet has been halved.

He said that as the cost of maintenance of old vehicles of the Chief Minister's Secretariat had surpassed a certain level, it was wise to gradually replace them with new ones.

He said funds were allocated for the repair and maintenance of government establishments around the world.

The special assistant said it was inappropriate to link the funds allocated for the repair and maintenance of the CM Secretariat with renovation.

Referring to the Murree tragedy, he said that on the direction of the chief minister, stern and indiscriminate action would be taken against those responsible once the inquiry committee would finalise its fact finding report, due next week.
