RAWALPINDI:

Employees and pensioners of Chaklala Cantonment Board have yet to receive their salaries and pensions for the month of January due to the ongoing verification of the records initiated on the orders of the new executive officer.

The salaries and pensions were supposed to be paid on January 1 but the employees and pensioners could not receive their payments yet.

The employees and pensioners frequently visited the offices of the CCB assistant secretary and the accountant only to return empty-handed.

Sources said that the new cantonment executive officer, Zaki Haider, had ordered the verification of records of officers and employees besides issuing orders to stop disbursing salaries and pensions until the verification process was complete.

Chaklala Cantonment Board junior employees said that they face difficulty in purchasing groceries, paying their children school fee, medicine etc. The employees and pensioners said that they have been forced to borrow to make both ends meet.
