Woman jailed for killing three minor daughters

Police say attempted suicide case also registered against her

The woman who allegedly killed her three minor daughters in Haranpur village near was produced in court on Wednesday.

The local police produced a Yasmeen Fatima in the magistrate's court. She has been transferred to the jail on judicial remand. A DNA test has also been completed.

A case of attempted suicide has been registered against Yasmeen.

On January 1, she slit the throats of her three minor daughters and attempted self-immolation at her house in Haranpur village in the outskirts of Pind Dadan Khan in district Jhelum.

The girls were identified as five-year-old Zoya, three-year-old Faiza, and two-year-old Jannat.

Yasmeen was under treatment at District Headquarters Hospital Jhelum and was discharged on Monday.

Later, she told the police that her husband was abusive and she was subjected to severe physical torture. “My husband doesn’t earn enough and tells me to ask money from others and when I don’t he beats up me,” she added. A case was registered on behalf of Yasmeen’s mother-in-law, Rukhsana Kausar.

IG Punjab Rao Sardar Ali Khan sought a report of the murder of three girls and directed DPO Jhelum Rana Tahir Rehman to investigate the case from all angles.
