Calls for promoting the national language

KARACHI:

The 16th Karachi International Book Fair concluded at the Karachi Expo Centre on Monday amid call for promoting the national language.

Japanese Consul General in Karachi Toshikazu Isumora said that English language is important but Pakistanis should also give importance to their national language.

He expressed these views while talking to the media on the last day of the five-day book fair. Isomura further said that Pakistani nation should be proud of Urdu language and also promote it. He said that book fair is a good tradition and it should continue.

Former Sindh Education Minister Pir Mazharul Haq while talking to the media on the occasion said that every section of society is present in the exhibition and the huge crowd of the people is telling that the interest in reading has not diminished in the Pakistani nation.

Pakistan Publishers and Booksellers Association Chairman Aziz Khalid, Karachi International Book Fair Convener Waqar Matin Khan, Deputy Convener Nasir Hussain and organisers Nadeem Mazhar, M Iqbal Ghaziani, Iqbal Saleh Mohammad, Nadeem Akhtar, Kamran Noorani and Saleem Abdul Hussain were also present.
